10KLF: Last post of Day 1

I’d like to consider myself a fairly seasoned festival-goer and I have to say, this festival is one of my favorites. I must admit, though: a festival, for me, isn’t just about the music. It’s about the experience. The setting, the people, the vibe. There’s just something about 10KLF that sets it apart from the others (that I’ve been to, at least). Maybe it’s the scenery, the lakes, the flushing toilets and running water…

Or the attendees. Here are 2 of my favorite moments from today:
1) A gray-bearded man in his 60s sat down next to me in the Saloon. He reached into his fanny pack, pulled a plain hot dog out of a zip lock bag, and proceeded to eat it. I just don’t think you’d see that in Boston.
2) This little girl was the star of the show. The room was captivated by her and her hula-hoop. At one point, she was on her knees! It was just awesome.

I’m off to see George Clinton! More tomorrow!
