This morning I ran into Leah Wood, one of the two people who won tickets to Bumbershoot by commenting on one of our blog posts. She’s really excited about the festival, particularly looking forward to performances by Band of Horses and Barcelona.
Here’s more about Leah in her own words:
“I’m 28 years old and have lived in Seattle since 1998 when I came over from Bremerton for college. In school I really got into the music scene and going to live shows. It got to the point that if I wasn’t studying or in class I was probably at a concert. Now its almost the same except switch out studying or in class for working. As far as live show experiences go, Bumbershoot is one of the highlights of my year, that and Matt Nathanson concerts. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
Congrats Leah. Enjoy the festival!
Thanks to everyone who joined in on yesterday’s Finals Week PartyLine. Hundreds of you stopped by to listen and chat as I spun tracks (live from a Holiday Inn Express in Seattle where I’m covering the Bumbershoot Music Festival) from August quarter-finalists. It’s always amazing to listen and talk about music with the people who recorded it, so yesterday was awesome for me. At the end, somebody asked me if I was keeping a log of all the songs. Well…no, I wasn’t. But this morning, I went back through the archives and put together the above playlist. I think it features all (or most?) of the songs played yesterday (including tracks by John Brown’s Body, Lyke Minds, Annie Lynch and the Beekeepers, and many more. If I missed any, please let me know in the comment section. Enjoy!

If you live in Seattle, you’re probably getting excited about the Bumbershoot Festival, which takes place over the coming Labor Day weekend and features artists like Death Cab for Cutie, Beck, and the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots. We’re particularly excited here at OurStage, because three of our artists have won performance slots at this year’s festival: Beehive, Ashleigh Flynn, and Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden.
If you don’t live in Seattle and you’d like to experience Bumbershoot from home, here’s a playlist featuring songs by the three OurStage artists:
Also, make sure to check out our video interviews with bands at last year’s Bumbershoot Festival, including Saturna, Alabaster, and Merrill.
