Check out New York collective Thieves & Villains as they chat with OurStage host Alyssa Jayne Hale. Find out why parents like their music, what it’s like to come up in the highly competitive New York music scene and how, in less than a year, they managed to score a contract with one of the hottest indie labels in the country!
About the Band: Thieves & Villains met each other in the New York music scene and formed a collective of talented, driven artists who shared the goal of writing ‘heartfelt, timeless music.’ T&V came together in 2007 and, without the help of a booking agent, hit the road hard securing gigs up and down the east coast – even scoring a 3 week gig with the Vans Warped Tour. In late 2007 Victory records noticed the band and by February of 2008 offered them a contract. In April of 2008 the band headed to upstate New York to record their debut album The Movement. Their influences include everything from Third Eye Blind to Kanye West to Explosions in the Sky and Stevie Wonder and their album reflects a pop / rock interpretation of their eclectic taste.
