Daily Dose: Wednesday, October 1st

  • Remix culture is as alive as ever in this day and age. Today we have three versions of the Always There by songstress, Caitlyn Hessell.

    1. The original, a haunting tune for voice and guitar, with emotive strings playing over the top to round out the sound.

    2. The trip-hop version remixed by UK based, Proof Of Concept. With a heavy breakbeat featuring white noise hits, pizzicato strings, and beefed-up bass line, Always There takes on a decidedly more urban feel.

    3. While technically not a remix because I believe vocals have been re-recorded with a slightly modified melody, the result is the same. This version, a collaboration with Manic (probably NYC’s DJ Manic), is yet another beautiful re-imagination of the original song
