Almost half the world – three billion people – live on less than $2.50 a day.*
Today is 2008 Blog Action Day, where over 10,000 blogs reach out at once to raise awareness on a certain issue. With gas prices soaring and Wall Street slipping there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that these are shaky times for the US economy. And while most of us are assessing our own financial stability, it’s important to remember that there are billions, across the globe, who are homeless, hungry and have far less than we do.
At OurStage we believe in the power of music to unite people in a divided world. Both artists and fans have the incredible power to bring people together to raise awareness on social issues and we’d like to challenge YOU to do something to fight poverty in your community.
Think of some ways you could use music to help fight poverty!
- A concert fundraiser
- A show where people pay in blankets or canned goods
- Organize an evening of music at your local soup kitchen
If you can think of a unique way to fight poverty using music – we’d love to hear about it. Take pictures, tell us a story and YOU could be featured on the OurStage.com blog!
Number of children in the world: 2.2 billion – Number in poverty 1 billion.*
Still not sure what you can do to make a difference?
