Check out this video of Boston’s, Vivian Darkbloom, performing “The Planes”, at the OurStage Artist Showcase at CMJ. Yes, that is a Wii-mote strapped to his guitar and yes, its doing what you think it is. Vivian Darkbloom have been getting some attention in the tech-blogs lately for Rob Morris’ Nintendo wizardry, and rightfully so. They’ll be playing Ryan’s Smashing Life Halloween Concert this Friday on a great bill.
- We got the chance to chance to catch up with Ex Norwegian at CMJ all the way up from Miami. They we’re totally pysched to play CMJ, and I’m totally psyched on this video for “Something Unreal”.
- MTV is bringing back music videos! (online…)
- Maybe I really like this electro-pop song by A City Heart or “Maybe, It’s Vanity”
- “Last Night Was The Last Night”, seriously. Just listen to The Turf and stop calling me already…
- Continuing coverage of an attempt to Rick-Roll The World.
At their most boisterous – as on the brash “My Weapon” – the band’s songs are highly danceable and colored with punchy horn lines. At their most sensitive as on the piano and string-laced Morning Song – they blow the work of Starbucks divas like Norah Jones out of the water.
