I'm going to have to disagree with the state song since clearly it's "Shipping Up To Boston" or "Sweet Caroline (woah-oh-oh.)"

Let's not forget Johnny D's in Davis Square, Somerville! Everything from jazz to blues to rock to roots to reggae to afro-beat and more! Plus, they make a mean catfish.

If we listed out all of the great venues in Boston, the post would have gone on forever, but I can't help but add:

Cantab Lounge (Central Sq.) - for those bay staters looking for some down-home bluegrass, blues and a dash of soul

Wally's (South End) - for a dose of serious Jazz and a taste of what's to come from the latest student roster at Berklee

Toad (Porter Square) - for a lighter blend of indie singer/songwriter
