MAJOR MINORS: MENORES

When Menores formed back in 2005, some of its members weren’t even old enough to drive. Appropriately, their name means “minors” in English. It was lucky for the outside world that their tender ages didn’t stop them— didn’t even slow them down—from pursing musical greatness and making an impact everywhere they went.

"Nope, la chica isn't the singer. ¡Ella es la baterista!"

When the band started out they found it difficult to find places to play, most likely due to their ages and the fact that they didn’t “fit right in” with everything else that was popular at the time. They kept at it, and quickly began gaining attention.

Menores’ music has a bold and intense edge to it, a sound that makes the audience take them seriously “after playing their first song of the night.” The first single, “Muere la Ilusion” off their album of the same name, rose to Number 3 on the Latin Alternative Rock charts. [We happened to notice that at one point the same track also ranked higher than Juanes, Café Tacuba, Calle 13 and Manu Chao. That's a pretty big deal!]

Last year Menores was the only Spanish-speaking band invited to play the Amplify Festival. A little punk, a little rock, and we hear some Catupecu Machu in the vocals. Our suggestion: Get a little Menores in your CD player. Check out their fanclub page to read more about some of their accomplishments and become a Fan yourself!

Menores has shows scheduled through October in the LA and Vegas areas. Don’t miss ‘em!
