The Disco Biscuits
For the past thirteen years, The Disco Biscuits’s genre-defying music has enabled the band to amass a cult following through their live performances and studio work. This year is one of their busiest yet, with 2009 tour dates scheduled all over the country in support of their eagerly anticipated new album Planet Anthem. Not only are the Biscuits musical innovators, they’re industry trendsetters as well. As The Disco Biscuits hit the road this fall, the band will roll out a series of EPs to be released in six week increments leading up to the January 2010 release of Planet Anthem. These pristine, studio quality, multimedia releases will include singles, remixes and music videos of the album’s material.
In addition to recording and touring, the Disco Biscuits are also the brains behind Camp Bisco, one of the country’s largest and longest running electronic music festivals. Born out of the bands’ desire to headline a music festival, Camp Bisco has featured legendary artists and newcomers alike, including: Snoop Dogg, Thievery Corporation, Nas, Damien Marley, James Murphy (DFA Records, LCD Soundsystem), DJ Shadow, MSTRKRFT, The Roots, Infected Mushroom, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector Nine), Shpongle, Younger Brother, Alex Paterson (The Orb), and many, many more.
Editor-At-Large Jay Sweet recently chatted with the Biscuits on their Planet Anthem tour and talked to the band about the importance of touring and the changing definition of success in the music industry. Check out the video Q & A below!
