February”the month of love. And now, since this month’s announcement of upcoming summer tours, I have fallen even more in love with country music and its stars.

'Ran rocking on her pink guitar!

Miranda Lambert has just announced her first headlining tour, and it’s about damn time! Her “Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars” tour will kick off March 18th in Raleigh County, West Virginia. The tour will continue in a scattering of states throughout the US with dates extending into June of this year. Also, another big star announcing their plans for touring this year is Mr. Toby Keith. His “American Ride” tour with Trace Adkins will take off in New Jersey on June 19th and will conclude in Boston on September 25th. The tour is sponsored by a company as big as Toby Keith himself, the Ford F-series, so you can expect big trucks, big songs and big thrills if you get tickets to see Big Dog Daddy, Toby Keith.

Jimmy hits the road

Another interesting update this week is that of Jimmy Wayne’s Nashville to Pheonix Meet Me Halfway walk for teenage homelessness. With little hype about his mission, Jimmy began the walk on January 1st in Nashville. Covering about 200 miles a day, Jimmy has now walked 530 of 1,700 miles, talking shelter and eating meals when they are offered to him. He spends his nights sleeping in a tent to increase awareness about the growing problem of teen and young adult homelessness. Despite the lack of media coverage, this small, unpublicized effort is making its biggest impact on the young people Jimmy is fighting for.

In a bit of unsettling news, 2 men died when their pickup truck collided with Trace Adkins‘ tour bus. This tragedy occurred on February 13th when the pickup crossed the center line and ran head-on into Adkin’s bus. Trace was not on board, but he promptly reported to the scene to offer his support and condolences. Trace also canceled his appearance with Martina McBride and Sarah Buxton out of respect for the victims and their families. The entire country community sends out their support and love to the families of these young victims.
