Superlatones: Most Likely to Become an Astronaut

posted in: Features

Lately, it seems that we are hearing more and more from new and unexpected partnerships between artists of different genres. This is why, through Superlatones, we are creating our very own directory”a musical wish-list, if you will”of artists who have yet to join the collaborative bandwagon.

Now and then we will find a band whose sound transports us to another world. A band that makes us want to forget all our troubles and just dive into the music. With their indie-pop beats and dreamy melodies, this week’s dynamic duo is sure to do just that”so hang on to your helmets and prepare for blast-off.

The Dynamic Duo:
Givers
and Jinja Safari

Louisiana band Givers has been around since 2009, but only in 2011 did they release their first album, In Light. The band was featured in TIME magazine’s Ten Artists that Rocked SXSW, and are now set to play at Coachella 2012. Their unique sound”a product of powerful, bubbling percussion and bright, uplifting synths”can only be described as cheerful, quirky and often ecstatic, providing the listener with the strange feeling of being in a whole different world of sound.

Jinja Safari is an Australian band that formed in 2010. They have opened for such artists as Menomena and Boy and Bear, touring Australia and making themselves known for their energetic live performances. Although the band have yet to release a debut album, they have put out an EP of five songs called Mermaids & Other Sirens, which has been described as dreamy, folk-pop and African inspired forest rock.

We would be thrilled for these indie-pop darlings to come together and create, just to see what joyous and exciting worlds could be revealed through their music. While Givers could bring the fireworks and the excitement, Jinja Safari would create an ambience that would bring this collaboration full circle. We can already see ourselves frolicking through the woods, or dancing on the moon to their larger-than-life sound.
