2 Chainz Gets Motivational On First "This Is How I Made It" Episode

Forget cats, hot air balloons, or whatever other random images the makers of motivational posters think get their point across. 2 Chainz should be their go“to man from now on. In the introductory episode of MTV’s “This Is How I Made It,” the Georgia emcee dishes out the inspirational story of his early life and rise to fame like a bling“laden Tony Robbins. Despite being a prodigious basketball player who was courted by numerous Division I schools, 2 Chainz’ chances of playing college ball dissolved after he was locked up for a month during high school.

After doing his time for street hustling, 2 Chainz says he picked up the mic and never looked back. Reflecting on what contributed to his steadily growing success, 2 Chainz offers some advice to up“and“comers: “I didn’t disrespect. A lot of people rocked my campaign because of how genuine I am. My belief is that an intern can be a CEO one day, so you should treat the intern like you want to be treated.” While discussing Lil Wayne’s spot on the Playaz Circle track “Duffel Bag Boy,” 2 Chainz also shows off a brand of humility notably absent from other major players in the game (cough, Kanye). “It was moving so fast¦[it was] Lil Wayne’s time. Although the concept of ‘Duffel Bag Boys’ derived from us, I just knew it wasn’t my 15 minutes.” How many rappers can persuasively pitch the type of swag“filled modesty that 2 Chainz embodies? Somebody get this man a speaking gig already!
