Internet App Removes Chris Brown From Your Browsing Experience

Walking headline generator Chris Brown is the kind of figure that generates strong feelings. For every sticker made to remind people of an infamous public episode from two years ago that is clandestinely stuck on the front of his new album Fortune, there’s a legion of fans on Twitter willing to defend him.

You know how you feel about this guy. Which means that you also know how you feel about the new Chrome plug in that removes all mention of Brown from your browsing experience.

Yes, the good people over at AUX.tv have just come out with Chris Brownout, a new application that will literally censor every mention of the R&B singer that it can find on the Internet.

Now, it’s not perfect. After downloading the app myself for a test run, I found that the addition of hyphens and the removal of spaces between Chris and Brown will often trip up the censor and let the reference slip past. Having the app enabled made it exceedingly difficult to finish up writing this post. It even censors his name in the search bar in Google.

If you’re a big Chris Brown hater and you don’t mind potentially seeing big black and blue bars streaking across your screen at any given moment, then this is the browser extension for you. Now we wait for the extension that adds more Chris Brown to your browsing experience.

This isn’t the first time that the people over at AUX have tried to improve your music/pop culture Internet browsing experience. Back in late 2011, AUX debuted the Nickelblock plugin which removes, you guessed it, Nickelback, our favorite Canadian hesher punching bags, in much the same fashion.

At this time the Chris Brownout app is only available for Chrome. If you want remove almost all mention of Chris Brown from your Internet life (perish the thought!) and you use Chrome, then you can download the plug-in from Google Play here.
