Trent Reznor Returns With Upcoming How To Destroy Angels Releases, Inks Deal With Columbia

Everyone’s favorite-ornery-recluse-turned-cool-uncle-who-never-visits Trent Reznor resurfaced online over the weekend with some big news for his fans. Especially the fans of his How To Destroy Angels project. For the Nine Inch Nails fans, not so much.

Reznor announced via info dump that How To Destroy Angels, the group consisting of Reznor, his better half Mariqueen Maandig Reznor, Reznor’s The Social Network Score collaborator Atticus Ross, and Rob Sheridan, would be releasing a slew of new material. Not only that but How To Destroy Angels was signing with major label Columbia Records for the releases and potentially more in the future.

“Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy!” Trent began his statement on his Facebook page. And it certainly sounds like he has given the litany of releases that Reznor has coming up. Late this year How To Destroy Angels will release the An Omen EP, the follow up to their self titled 201o debut EP. The group will also release their first full length some time in early 2013.

Finally, Reznor was cognizant that his move back to a major would leave some fans scratching their heads. “There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace),” said Reznor. “But it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.”

DIY or not we’re just glad to have Reznor back and releasing music again.
