Drake Apologizes For Autism Lyric

posted in: Music News

Following yesterday’s story on J. Cole issuing an apology for a lyric about autism that did not go over well, Drake has issued a message of his own that fans need to read.

Posted on the YMCMB heartthrob’s official blog after Cole’s letter began to go viral, Drake’s message to fans further emphasizes the points made in Cole’s letter, and even praises the young emcee for getting ahead of the controversy. You can read Drake’s words below:

J.Cole wrote a beautiful and moving apology to individuals and families affected by autism who were understandably hurt by a verse in “Jodeci Freestyle”. I share responsibility and offer my sincerest apologies for the pain this has caused. Individuals with autism have brilliant and creative minds, and their gifts should not be disparaged or discounted. This was a learning lesson for both of us, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to try to right this wrong. J. Cole and I believe that it is the right, responsible, and respectful decision to remove the lyric from the song.

As far as we have found, no autism-related group has issued a response to either rapper’s message. If anything changes, we’ll be sure to let you know.
