Watch Eazy-E Be Resurrected Via Hologram At Rock The Bells

Move over, Tupac. There’s another dead rapper making headlines thanks to modern technology.

Saturday night in San Bernardino, California, the members of Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony resurrected rapper Eazy-E using the same hologram technology that brought Tupac Shakur to Coachella 2012. The event was part of Rock The Bells, which just so happened to take place on the day that E would have turned 50, had he not died from complications related to AIDS in the early ’90s. The show included performances of Straight Outta Compton, Boyz-n-the-Hood, and Foe tha Love of $.” You can view fan-filmed footage of the event below.

It may be pretty cool that we live in a world where holograms can so closely resemble real people, but we’re not sold on the need to bring musicians back from the dead. These one-off events are fun publicity grabs, but they’re also undeniably creepy, and what they really mean to an audience remains to be seen.

Rock The Bells was not done playing God just yet. Last night, the festival again turned to hologram technology when Ol’ Dirty Bastard made an ‘appearance’ during closing night performances. No footage is available at this time, but we’ll post a link as soon as decent video surfaces.
