Prince Releases "Breakfast Can Wait" Teaser

posted in: Music NewsPop

It has been years since Prince released an album, but throughout 2013 he has surfaced a number of times to tease new material, and today may be the best update yet.

Over the summer, a hilarious cover image was revealed for a new Prince single titled “Breakfast Can Wait.” The image, which features comedian Dave Chapelle impersonating The Purple One, became a viral sensation without a single note of music, then faded out of headlines almost as soon as it arrived. We remembered the artwork, but had forgotten about the song, to be honest, until last week, when the song arrived at radio. Now we have the official music video teaser.

Directed by Danielle Curiel, the video for “Breakfast Can Wait” looks to tell a story through the art of dance. There is no sign of Prince in the visuals so far, but the movie-quality cinematography is more than enough to entertain in his absence. You can expect the full video to surface in the days ahead.

Prince and his team are remaining tight-lipped about a new album or tour, but it stands to reason something bigger than a single release is likely in the works. Follow OurStage on Twitter to ensure you never miss another headline.
