Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" Manuscript To Be Auctioned

posted in: By GenresMusic NewsRock

Is it just us, or is Bruce Springsteen all over the news lately? First we learn of a Bruce Springsteen Theology course being offered at Rutgers University (um, yes please!) and now there’s talk of a handwritten working manuscript of 1975’s “Born To Run” being auctioned off on December 5. So just how much might a manuscript like this run you? Pre-sale estimates are already coming in as high as $100,000.

Written on a small sheet of ruled notebook paper in blue ink, Springsteen wrote the lyrics “This town’ll rip the (out your) bones from your back/ It’s a suicide trap (rap) (it’s a trap to catch the young) your dead unless/ You get out (we got to) while your young so (come on! with) take my hand cause tramps/ Like us baby we were born to run” along with several notes in the margins. Check out a photo of the manuscript below.
