VIDEOS!

Lots and lots of new videos lately. Yesterday we brought you clips from Best Coast and Lorde, today we have Bowie, The Field Effect, Angel Olsen, and some Daft Punk. So stop working (jk, I mean stop checking Twitter) and watch some, won’t you?

DAVID BOWIE, “I’d Rather Be High”
Yes, it’s a new video for “I’d Rather Be High – Venetian Mix (Wasted Edit),” from Bowie’s recent LP, The Next Day. Unlike the lead video from the record, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” this one is mostly devoid of Bowie himself, opting instead for manipulated wartime footage. This pairs oddly well with the woozy sway of the music.

THE FIELD EFFECT
, “Blue Christmas”
OurStage members and Boston’s own The Field Effect released a cover of Wham‘s “Last Christmas” last Christmas. Wait…no, yes, that’s right. This year, they’ve tracked a rocking and popping (but not locking – breakdancing is next year) version of Elvis Presley‘s classic “Blue Christmas.” We liked the Wham! cover, but this one’s got 100% more jammies, so it’s really no contest.

ANGEL OLSEN
, “Forgiven/Forgotten”
Indie folkie turned lo-fi garage punk Angel Olsen transforms into to suburban teenage drama queen in this brief clip for her track “Forgiven/Forgotten,” the first single from the upcoming Burn Your Fire For No Witness. Reportedly inspired by the vintage turn-of-the-’80s vibe of Freaks and Geeks, the video was shot on 16mm film in the North Carolina suburbs.

DAFT PUNK
, “Instant Crush”
This one isn’t a full video, but a preview of a new one from Daft Punk, with Strokes singer Julian Casablancas, which appeared on French television and is making the rounds today, cause people are bonkers for Daft Punk.
