Scenes From The Rock Boat XIII (Part One)

posted in: Music News

Hello again, OurStage!

I have finally returned to the mainland and recovered from my intense sun burns enough to relay all my great memories from The Rock Boat XIII. If you read my post last week, thank you for your time. This post, and the one that follows tomorrow, will offer you plenty more eye candy from the world’s best festival at sea.

Having never been on a cruise, let alone one whose purpose was to celebrate rock and roll, my time aboard The Rock Boat XIII can only be summarized as one I’ll never forget. From the twenty-plus daily performances, to the time on Great Stirrup Cay (an Island in the Bahamas smaller than most towns), every day was packed with moments that could only happen in a setting such as this. I spent time celebrating in the success of smaller bands I had grown to love, such as Junior Doctor and Bronze Radio Return, and fell in love new bands that have seemingly grown to be huge without me ever noticing, like Red Wanting Blue and The Voice contestant Tony Lucca. Discovery met current interests, and the results was a sonically cohesive week of good vibrations and passionate music fans. Every person I met, yet every single one, loved music above all else. It didn’t matter that I was (on average) five years younger than most attendees because we all shared the ageless bond of music, and being in such an environment for any length of time is worth every penny you can possibly save.

When I finally had a chance to sit down and dig through photographs captured during my week abroad, it dawned on me I had far too many to share at once. So in an attempt to keep load times low and provide as much insight into this fantastic journey as possible, I’ve decided to unveil two collections of photos that encompass events from the entire week. The first set can be found below, but those wanting the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. If you have photos to share from The Rock Boat, comment below and let us see your shots!
