As I’ve mentioned, (it’s my opinion that) some of the best experiences at a festival can happen outside the music. I do love festivals at night. The grounds magically transform into a vibrant, mythical scene. Effervescent colors and glowing lights illuminate the night as costumed performers twirl and flutter about. It is theatrical, Shakespearean, dream-like.
If you’re able to discern from the pictures below, a seemingly spontaneous fire-dancing tribe erupted during Phil’s intermission. Tried though I did, I was unable to capture the fire-breathing woman in a snapshot.
P.S. I know what you’re thinking after these last 2 posts and no, I’m not on drugs. It’s just that beautiful here tonight.
So maybe I spoke too soon. Sovereign Sect’s crowd rivaled Roster McCabe’s. They packed the Saloon. As the last OurStage band to perform at this year’s 10KLF, they certainly represented us well
Excuse my lack of eloquence, but Roster McCabe kicked a**!! They were, for lack of a better word, great. Awesomely great. They had incredible energy, got the crowd shouting and first-pumping, and sounded superb.
Their blend of jam, jazz & rock with a hint of reggae was a home run with this crowd. In fact, I’d say they had one of the biggest crowds I’ve seen all weekend in the Saloon. And to top it off, it turns out they are a bunch of really nice guys.

Rating: * * * * (I thought this was one of the best covers I’ve heard all weekend, until…)
Roster McCabe Cover Song #2: Regulators (Warren G feat. Nate Dogg)
Rating: * * * * * (hands down best cover of the festival)
It helps to have a horde of familiar faces in the crowd.
