Stats: 5 Judging Excellence awards, 1 Connector and 1 Super Connector badge as a Fan, 2 Top Ten finishes and 2 Channel wins as an Artist.

Bio: Jenny has been involved in the music industry since 1979. She supported tons of major Aussie bands with her cover band Kool Change back in the day. After taking a break to have her two children, she was back as part of Hillbilly Dix and now She SaiD. Jenny has a strong presence on OurStage and was thrilled when we asked her to pick some tracks to feature this week.

“I’ve decided to choose 3 of my fave songs from brand new artists here @ OurStage, in the view to maybe helping these songs and artists to get more established here. I know how hard it is when you’re a new member, to get your material heard and to build a fan base. So I hope this helps them out a little…”

The Way You Say My Name by Draz for Singer-Songwriter (Male)

“Right from the intro of this song, I was hooked by the drum pattern and knew I was going to love it !!! Kind of unpredictable throughout the song, but has a lilting flow, taking you to different feels and emotions…I really love the space, warmth and how it builds and pulls back…
‘The Way You say My Name’ is cleverly written and performed beautifully along with Draz’s infectious voice.”

Budapest by David Rome for Experimental

“The distant but evident sound of a trumpet is the introduction to this interesting and creative track, leading to a Middle Eastern feel and vocal style. I love this track particularly of David’s, because each listen, I’m hearing something different, new and exciting. I feel this is a true example of ‘experimental’ with the blending and use of different styles and instrumentation… Exciting and Unique…”

American Spirit by Crosstide for Folk

“‘American Spirit’ speaks for itself really….Very deep, beautifully constructed piece of music with the use of string instruments & horns at its best..Incredibly expressive, moving and somewhat mesmorizing lyrically, vocally and musically..Flows effortlessly, emotionally taking you along for the ride…This song lifts you high and then gently places you back down to a safe, peaceful place. I know I will be listening to ‘American Spirit’ very often. Really love it!!!!”

MOJO THAT’S SURE TO RISE TO THE TOP

A slice of funky dance rock with a bass line Michael Jackson would be proud of and a groove that sets the mood about love and loss.

Sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it? That’s the description Mojo Rising gave their catchy dance track “She Woke Up To Me.” One listen and you’ll agree that it’s a keeper. This band from Melbourne, Australia just keeps popping up around OurStage. We first noticed them a few months back as part of the Triple M’s Unsigned Find competition, a contest open specifically to artists down under. Next ,we came across them in Live Performance Videos, and most recently in Pop. Each time I stumble upon one of their tracks, I stop and listen to the whole thing because I can’t help but be absorbed. And after watching the video for “She Woke Up To Me,” it’s clear their stage presence and energy is a real crowd pleaser.

These Aussie boys released their latest EP, Feel What You Feel, this past March. Currently, they’re gearing up for an onslaught of shows, releasing video blogs on their MySpace page and celebrating  their recent # 1 slot on  Australian Internet Radio thanks to “She Woke Up To Me”! I think I might just move to Australia.

OurStage to be renamed AussieStage for the month of April!

Alright, there isn’t really a name change coming. But OurStage does have a special place in its heart this month for Australian artists. No, not because of that Australia movie that just came out on DVD. Hundreds of users on OurStage are located in the Land Down Under, and many of them have the opportunity this month to participate in the Triple M’s Unsigned Find competition. It’s the perfect time to win some money for an Aussie artist; while the northern hemisphere enjoys the weather getting warmer and warmer, Australia is headed for winter in a few months. The $10,000 cash prize will definitely help the lucky winner fight off those cold weather blues. Looking for something new from the southern hemisphere? Check out these rockin’ Aussie Ourstagers:

Mojo Rising oitirakdhgoy-520x520

Aside from being a well-dressed group of talented young men, Mojo Rising’s got nothing to do with The Doors. This groovy dance beat-infused pop rock band is based out of Melbourne, which many people mistakenly believe is the capital of Australia. (Fun fact: It’s actually Canberra.) Feel What You Feel is their brand new EP and it’s available on the Mojo Rising website.

Arcane Saintsl_65a2a204286044bb80919abe5b977803

Also from Melbourne, the Arcane Saints are a hard rocking Aussie band fronted by Michael John, who happens to be a relative of Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris. Iron Maiden is appropriately listed as one of their influences, of course. The Arcane Saints have their own new EP available entitled Black Widow Dance, as well some upcoming shows in their native land.
