Here’s a combination you might not expect: Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne. Released as part of Bieber’s Journals collection this past Monday, the singer revealed the R&B laced track, “Backpack,” with guest vocals from Lil Wayne. It’s weird and seemingly about aliens, yet it has that classic Bieber vibe that Beliebers go mental over. Also appearing on Journals are tracks featuring Future and Big Sean. Check out the track below. (more…)
Paris Hilton has been out of the pop music landscape since her disastrous 2006 debut album, but after spending a number of years on the EDM bandwagon, the heiress is apparently ready to show music fans what she’s got. She signed a deal with Lil Wayne‘s Cash Money Records not long ago, and today she released a teaser for her comeback single, “Good Time,” which arrives October 1. You can view the teaser on Idolator.
It’s far too early to tell whether or not the world is ready for Paris Hilton to takeover the airwaves, or to do anything, really, but “Good Time” sounds like it’s probably no worse than any one of the numerous EDM-infused hits at radio today. Comment below to let us know your first impressions of “Good Time,” then stop back by on October 1 to stream the full song.
The latest I Am Not A Human Being Part Two single to be given the video treatment, “God Bless Amerika” hopes to cash in on July’s celebration of independence by placing Wayne in front of the largest American flag sold in Louisiana. Wayne works through a verse before the flag drops, revealing the people living in Wayne’s childhood neighborhood and the struggles they continue to face. It’s a surprisingly sentimental video for the YMCMB rapper, but his lyrics are as ridiculous as ever. You can stream the video below.
Lil Wayne has at least three albums in progress right now. I Am Not A Human Being Part Two is out now.
The first new song to surface from Big Sean since “Switch Up” made a splash back in March, “Beware” is a quasi-love song chock so full of attitude even the toughest of hearts will be compelled to bob their heads to the beat. Lil Wayne and newcomer Jhene Aiko guest, but there’s no question who the star of the show turns out to be. You can stream “Beware” below.
It is unclear at this time whether or not “Beware” will appear on Big Sean’s new album, Hall Of Fame. Either way, we’re already sold on buying the record when it hits shelves August 27. How about you? (more…)
Lil Wayne went on record earlier this year saying he was becoming bored with rap. In fact, Wayne said after Tha Carter V he would retire from rap for good. Now, in a new interview with MTV, Wayne reveals he has plenty more music on the way (or at least in the works).
Chatting with RapFix live, Lil Wayne and Birdman confirmed that they are indeed working together on a new Big Tymers release. Surprisingly, Mannie Fresh will not be part of the release, but YMCMB heartthrob Drake will. No explanation was offered for Mannie’s departure, but the duo did say that they have yet to record any verses for the release. Click here to view the interview.
OS Member Fat Trel has become the first emcee brave enough to release a freestyle over Lil Wayne‘s “Wowzers” beat.
You may recall “Wowzers” from Weezy’s I Am Not A Human Being Part II, but what you didn’t know is that someone could ride it as well as Fat Trel has with this release. Wayne might have offered up a solid track with the original, but Trel goes in deep on these bars and really showcases hispotential for true greatness. He has found plenty of success reaching fans here on OurStage, so we’re not surprised to see him shine now. Click here to stream (and download) “Wowzers.”
