Friday Noon: Quickie with State Radio

Check out this Bonnaroo quickie. I met up with Chad and Chuck of State Radio and talked about The Raconteurs, Drive By Truckers and their “sloppy” performance on the Sonic Stage. Check out the webcam video:

And here are some pictures from their set on the Sonic Stage:

My video director Andy hearts mountains

My video director Andy hearts mountains. It’s true. But does anyone have a ticket to the gun show?

State Radio rockin’ the Sonic Stage!

Now we were wondering if Chad could possibly compete with our buddy Braddigan on the ‘ridiculously nice person’ scale – but he went above and beyond the interview, happily posing for pics with OurStage biggest fan, Shinny

And OurStage VP of marketing, Lora. All in all is was a packed, high energy show that left the audience feeling good and hungry for more!

Friday Morning: First Show of the Day

Alright kids, day 2 @ Bonnaroo – it’s hot as heck down here and OurStage is rocking away in the Sonic Village.

Sonic Village stage manager Annabell is our right hand gal at Bonnaroo. She runs an incredibly tight ship & she’s always there if we need anything. Her boundless energy and spunky attitude make her one of OurStage’s favorite people at Bonnaroo!

We’re gearing up for the Press Project tonight but right now we have ‘Grupo Fantasma‘ kickin it with a latin / funk vibe and the village is PACKED! Shinny and Cara are trying to keep cool and enjoying the tunes right outside the tent :)

And here’s the band that drew them, the incredibly fun and energetic performers from ‘Grupo Fantasma.’

Shinny and Cara joined the masses for the last few Grupo Fantasma songs before they kicked out for the day … Later we’re going to meet up with them and check out the spray painting walls and the silent disco … so stay tuned! But first … there’s this guy …

Nothin like a dude in a skirt to get your day goin!

Thursday Night: The Press Project, MGMT, NBA Finals & Vampire Weekend

As the first night began the crew headed over to the MGMT show. Walking across from our booth to the ‘THIS’ tent we walked by the beautiful umbrella lights and the beloved Bonnaroo fountain … what a view!

After an amazing show by MGMT we headed back to the tent where lo and behold we ran into the OurStage opening band ‘The Press Project!!

Keep an eye on my blog as tonight the crew from The Press Project kicks off the first OurStage performance in the Sonic Village.

This North East based crew wasted no time at the tent though … we had an NBA finals game to catch at the cinema tent! And lucky for us most of the fans watching the game were Celtics fans!!

And when it was pretty obvious they’d made NBA history, coming back from a 24 point deficit … even Pierce couldn’t help but celebrate …

and the whole tent joined in …

After that, with spirits high, we booked it over into the VIP section and got right up front for Vampire Weekend!! These guys put on a phenomenal performance and the THIS tent was electric with opening night energy!

Stay tuned for more blogging from Bonnaroo as tonight the first OurStage band, the Press Project rocks the stage in the Sonic Village.

Thursday Night: The evening begins …

The umbrella lights that line the main pathways give the grounds a soft but festive glow.

1_bonnuit1.jpg

Before the main shows of the evening go on people walk around and visit the various booths & vendors in the central area of the grounds.

1_bonnuit2.jpg

From mohawks to tattoos, there’s plenty of ways one can take a little bodily adventure here at Bonnaroo … Henna is one of the more popular (and less permanent) options :)

One of the ‘must see’ and ‘must play in’ areas of Bonnaroo is the fountain. There are plenty of places to wash your feet and cool off on the festival grounds, but none nearly as spectacular as this.

Thursday Noon: The Fans Arrive … let the lines begin

SO – We thought last night it might be a little cooler this year … as last night we were greeted with looming dark clouds and lightning storms in the distance … but worry not, my friends, it is hot and dusty and we’re having a peach of a time using the porta potties.

So we got in and got set up with a ridiculous amount of bracelets offering various levels of access and entrance to places that I am neither familiar with or aware of …

Thankfully one of the bracelets allows us access to the media area from which Andrew and I will be pushin out all we’re takin in this week (why does that sound so wrong?) Here’s a pic of the radio tent where we’re working from right now (still not sure if we’re allowed in here but we’re gonna keep working until someone tells us otherwise).

So today is the DAY people!! Tens of thousands of music fans waited upwards of FOUR HOURS in their cars to make it through one of the checkpoints onto the grounds here @ Bonnaroo. Above is one of the check points.

There are several things that keep the pace nice and slow down here in Tennessee … sometimes it’s the overwhelming amount of people flocking to one spot at the same time … and other times …

1_fieldofdreams.jpg

We saw people hanging out the open doors of driving cars, sitting on the roof and then just stopping completely and to get out of their cars to play frisbee!

Ladies and gentlemen the festival has started and the fun is about to begin. We’re off to pick up our biggest fan, Shinny, and his girlfriend, Cara and get them into BonnarooOurStage VIP style!!
