Because… I consider myself an artist and artists shouldn’t dream about becoming a rock star for a day. That kind of thing is more suited for people who are in it for money/ fame/ booty/all of the above. Artists should be dreaming about better expressing themselves and conveying their art to as many people as possible.
Today’s Free MP3 comes to us from Shosha Capps. The song is Mimosa, which won the Folk Channel in June. Mimosa, a deceptively simple song written for voice, guitar and accordion, was recorded in Buenos Aires, during the time Shosha spent in Argentina. There is a lyrical depth to this song that becomes apparent through repeated listenings, and is complemented beautifully by understated accordion. College Music Journal says,
Shosha Capps seems to love Tegan And Sara and Iron And Wine, influenced by the former’s melodic vocals and the latter’s hushed simplicity.
