What Indie Musicians Want From the Next President

At this point, we know how Obama and McCain plan to support the middle class, the troops, and the elderly.  But what about the growing constituency of indie musicians?

We caught up with dozens of indie bands at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York City and posed the question:  What do you want the next president to do for indie musicians?

Takka Takka Plays The Red Bull Space


After a great interview with Takka Takka, I had to stop back to check out their showcase (They have a whopping 7 this year at CMJ). They did not disappoint. Live they have a more straight ahead sound than on the new record, Migration, but it worked well nonetheless. Featuring lyrics that are both contemplative and conversational, Takka Takka, was able to transcend the space, which was less than ideal. The fact that they were able to stay together and harmonize vocals without monitors, speaks volumes about their musicianship and skill. More pictures after the jump.
