This Week @ OurStage: February 22, 2009

There is always something new and exciting going on at OurStage and we know it can be hard to stay on top of the best indie music on the web, so we put together an easy 5-step plan to help you brush up on all the latest and greatest:

1) Get your weekly free download:
Every Thursday, we post a new mp3 download from one of the many artists on OurStage. This week, we featured Infiltration (Creeper Mix) by Trifonic. Get the free download here and check back this Thursday for more fresh music.

2) Discover new bands:
We’re always featuring great new artists from the OurStage charts. This week we shared updates, reviews and little-known facts about The Hush Sound, Plushgun, Petrina Foley, Fugitive Souls, and Another Cynthia. Check them out and feel free to comment here with your requests for more artists to feature.

3) Get the OurStage Radio iPhone application
We hope you are one of those lucky people who own an iPhone or and iPod Touch. If you do, we have a new application for you! OurStage Radio is a great way to discover new music on the go, but don’t take my word for it. Mashable recently named it one of the top music applications!

4) Meet your bloggers:
Ever wonder who’s behind the scenes at the OurStage blog? Well, we decided to host a blogger’s version of an open house. Stop on by and say hi, we’d love to know who’s reading all this, too!

5) Get ready for Noise Pop
If you’re living in San Francisco, this is a must read for you! If not, read this anyway, you’re going to learn about some really good bands. The Noise Pop Festival starts this Tuesday and we’ve put together a guide to help you navigate the many venues and schedules as well as a great playlist to sample the Noise Pop sound!

In 2004, the indie quartet The Hush Sound was formed near Chicago, Illinois and has since released three outstanding albums. Gaining the attention of Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, The Hush Sound was signed in 2006 to Decaydance Records/Fueled by Ramen.  They recorded their second album with producers Sean O’ Keefe and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. Their song, ‘Wine Red’ was chosen to be on the soundtrack to “Snakes on a Plane.” Their third album was released in 2008 and a song from it is featured on an episode of House as well as Grey’s Anatomy.

The band has toured with many groups including: All-American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, and Panic! at the Disco. Their most recent tour to Japan for “Decaydance Fest” with other artists from their label including: OneRepublic, Augustana, and Spill Canvas.

Keep an eye out for The Hush Sound, you’ll be seeing more of them as time goes on!
