Hitting your ears like an audio punch to the gut, “Ghosts” is another impressive step forward for We Came As Romans. The song seems to build on the energy first heard on “Tracing Back Roots” and “Fade Away,” but with a twist of sentiment that is wholly unique to this track. Hot Topic had the premiere, so you’ll need to visit Soundcloud to experience “Ghosts.”
Tracing Back Roots, the new album from We Came As Romans, hits stores next week via Equal Vision Records.
The second song to surface off the upcoming album Tracing Back Roots, “Fade Away” is classic We Came As Romans. Though compelling as ever, there is no getting past the familiar sing/scream structure upon which the band has built their career. It works, and just like the songs that came before, “Fade Away” packs meaningful lyrics about recognizing the struggle of life and wraps it with a hopeful (anthemic) chorus. You can stream the single right here.

Sticking to the scream/cleans mix that has propelled them thus far in their career, the first taste of “Fade Away” We Came As Romans have offered feels like a fitting continuation of their career. More than any other band, WCAR offer a sense of self-empowerment in their music, and that seems to be the case yet again with this song. You can stream the teaser at the end of this post.
We Came As Romans will release “Fade Away” on July 3. Their new album, Tracing Back Roots, hits stores July 23. (more…)
The title track and lead single off We Came As Romans’ forthcoming new album, “Tracing Back Roots” first premiered online early yesterday morning. The song quickly climbed the iTunes rock charts, and just before the sun set on the East Coast the following lyric video found its way online. While the concept of these videos may seem tired, the approach WCAR keeps things interesting even for those who think the idea is a bit stale. You can view the video below.
After a day and many replays, I think it’s safe to say We Came As Romans have never sounded better than they do on “Tracing Back Roots.” After two full lengths (and two deluxe reissues), it seems this group has finally come into their own. Taken from the recent reissue of their Sophomore album Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be, which in addition to Hope includes two more new songs, the latest video from WCAR is their most high-gloss effort to date. The clip finds the band spreading their message of hope to downtrodden students and those who feel displaced by society alongside at least three separate performance setups. You can view the footage below.
