Tired Old Bones
The music of Tired Old Bones conjures up a particular mood ” one that might befall you on a whiskey muddled evening on your back porch, wind whipping through the trees and dogs baying at the moon ¦ something like that. The Boston band has yet to fully flesh out their sound, but the bones are there. Think bluesy dirges, muddy guitars and rock & stomp drums. It’s the soundtrack for black throughts and desperate deeds. The only bright spots to be found are in the lustrous strains of a Hammond organ and comely female vocals splayed over murky arrangements. Do Not Disturb has the beginnings of good, gothic southern rock but lacks the depth to truly make your soul shudder. Country Circus is more up-tempo and overtly spooky” the perfect soundtrack for a vaudevillian act from hell. If you’re seeking the creeps, look no further. Otherwise, reserve Tired Old Bones for those nights you just want to brood.
