Kind Of Girl

From the opening guitar peals of Slave to Your Charms you get the sense that Kind of Girl is a band that has fully harnessed their songcraft and is off on a full-speed gallop. Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, the group blends keyboards, synths, drums, bass and guitar into instantly infectious pop concoctions. C’mon C’mon gets the party started with chugging bass lines, reverb-drenched guitars and singer Sissel O’s best Nena impersonation. It’s an airborne rocker that’s irrefutably danceable. If that doesn’t ensnare you with its hooks, Strange and Wonderful will. Great whorls of synths and glimmering keyboards lift off for a stunner of a chorus that stays with you long after the song is over. As great as Kind of Girl is at stylish, upbeat synth pop, they know how to summon more contemplative states of mind. From Silence and Sleep lets sinewy guitars clang against Sissel’s measured intonations, creating a spacious, moody and unsettling soundscape that’s as haunting as the other songs are liberating. The band’s dark side makes their brighter fare even more luminous.
