Orlando, Florida: Home to golden-haired princesses, blue-haired retirees and tousled-haired rockers. The Story Of Sound falls into the third bucket. The group underwent several lineup changes right out the gate before settling on its current members: guitarists John Millan and Andy Provan and drummer Chadwell Keatley. (Nevermind the two extra dudes up top). Together, the trio churns out moody, technical post-punk. Science Vs Speculation is a perfectly metered maelstrom of buckshot drums, and melodic, piercing guitars. Come to think of it, so is Quantum and Our Event Horizon. Here’s the thing. The Story of Sound is great at dramatic, clamorous, angular rock. Who cares if stylistically every song is similar? You’re so caught up in the storm that you’re not looking for a break in the weather.
