There are certain things in life that bloom in the summer only to wither away post-Labor Day. Summer lovin’, obviously. Life-guarding jobs. Even bands go bust when members head back to college. Lucky for you, The Spiveys”hailing from Charlotte, NC”took their summer side project full-time. The trio, comprised of singer/guitarists Adam Middleton and Jesse Reaves and drummer Jacob Worden, craft stylized rock that veers towards ˜90s alternative. On Can’t Stay Here, the bass saunters slowly while guitars blast off. Does anybody know how I lost control? Middleton asks over the lurching rhythm. The track is theatrical, polyrhythmic and aggressive”guitars and drums work together to deliver measured lashes from all angles. The Spiveys musicology isn’t rocket science; it’s just good rock done right. And unlike that cutie you met at the pool, it’ll stick with you after the season’s over.
