Catch Up With Jem Warren – Winner Of The Confession Song Competition
posted in: OurStage Updates
Song placement in shows and movies is one of the best ways for rising artists to get a shot at big time exposure. OurStage and The Confession teamed up in March to offer one lucky artist such an opportunity. That one lucky artist was New York-based singer songwriter Jem Warren.
Warren won the Grand Prize in The Confession Song Competition ”placement of his alt-country ballad Jim Jones in a special behind-the-scenes episode of The Confession, Kiefer Sutherland’s latest action-packed web series. We sat down with Warren to chat about his experience. Check it out:
OS: How did it feel to win “The Confession Song Competition”?
JW: It was amazing! I’m a huge fan of 24 and have been a fan of Kiefer Sutherland for years, going all the way back to The Lost Boys and Flatliners. So you can imagine what an honor it was to have my song involved in a project that Kiefer Sutherland is such a big part of.
OS: What was it like to hear your song played in The Confession Behind the Scenes feature?
JW: Awesome! That kind of recognition is always a great feeling.
OS: How have you used this opportunity to further promote your music?
JW: It’s pretty much being stated on all of our promo materials now, which is great. We’re looking for licensing and publishing deals at the moment and being a small part of a project as big as The Confession looks really good on a resume. Also, I announce it pretty much every time I play the song live.
OS: Has this experience opened any doors for you?
JW: Not yet…….but it was pretty cool hearing Kiefer mention me by name on Extra TV.
OS: Have you picked up some new fans as a result of the placement?
JW: Oh definitely. People from all over the country have been hitting me up and checking out my music.
OS: Any shout-outs you’d like to make or people you’d like to thank?
JW: Big shout-out to OurStage for giving me this opportunity. Also want to thank my manager Annette Babich, without her this wouldn’t have happened.
OS: What’s on your radar at the moment? Recording? Touring?
JW: At the moment I’m just playing locally (NYC, Hamptons, CT, MA), since I’ll be going back to the studio before summer’s end to record a full album. You can find show dates at www.jemwarren.com
