Press Shuffle: Why Latinos Party Best
posted in: Latin • Reviews & Playlists
If there’s something Latinos are known for, it’s partying. When it comes to letting loose and living a little, nobody comes close. The food, the drinks, the dancing, the people¦ it all just seems so fantastically exotic yet incredibly tangible. In an effort to describe this magical experience for you, we’ve prepared a simple analysis of the typical post-college level party by juxtaposing the main elements of both Anglo and Latino social gatherings. See the difference? Additionally, we’ve provided you with a premier sampling of some of our Latino artists here at OurStage to get you in the mood”you’ll be able to find this and much, much more over at the Tr3s Latin Music Channel.
1. Attendees:
Anglo “ List only, please. Make sure you RSVP!
Latino “ List only, but it’s OK to bring significant other(s), siblings, close friends, second cousins, classmates, coworkers, neighbors and pets.
2. Event starts:
Anglo “ At the time listed on the invite.
Latino “ At least an hour later, or the hosts won’t be home when you show up.
3. Food:
Anglo “ If you’re lucky, Bob ordered a pizza; grab a slice before it’s all gone. Still hungry? Should’ve eaten beforehand.
Latino “ Make sure you have the necessary tupperware to bring back enough food to feed you the rest of the week.
4. Alcohol:
Anglo “ BYOB, although the house might have a few cans of Natty Ice or PBR floating in the water-filled cooler.
Latino “ …Please.
5. Music and Dancing:
Anglo “ “Oh hey brah, this the new Dave Matthews jam? Sick, I’m totally going to that show next week! Excuse me, could you please scoot over a bit? Your hand just grazed my knee.”
Latino “ Packed dance floor, perreo and merengue left and right. Can’t hear what your friend just yelled in your ear? The volume might be just fine.
6. Entertainment:
Anglo “ PS3, XBOX 360, N64, Wii, red cups and a ping pong ball.
Latino “ What else do you need besides each other and music? See “Music and Dancing.”
7. When does the party end?
Anglo “ Again, check your invitation. If the host is a close friend, you might have the privilege to stay an additional half hour to help them clean up.
Latino “ When you pass out on the couch due to dance exhaustion and pure party bliss.
