Following the death of iconic vocalist Whitney Houston, those close to the star will bid an official farewell at her funeral this weekend. The event, which was previously rumored to take place at the 18,000-seat Prudential Center in New Jersey, is actually being held at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, and is reportedly invitation-only. But fans need not fret, as the funeral itself shall be streamed online and broadcast live on CNN at noon on Saturday.
Among the confirmed guests are Chaka Khan, Ray J, Brandy, and songwriter Diane Warren. Aretha Franklin, Houston’s godmother, has been invited to perform at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, controversy brews over the decision of New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie to fly the state’s flags at half-mast in honor of Whitney Houston. Leave a comment here with your thoughts.
