Madonna vs. Joe Francis Over "Girl Gone Wild"

Reports are saying that Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis is now threatening legal action against Madonna over an upcoming track from her new album MDNA. Francis says that before she performed at this year’s Super Bowl, he had sent Madonna a cease and desist letter in order to prevent her from singing the song. The track in question, which was initially called “Girls Gone Wild,” was quickly changed to “Girl Gone Wild” before its release.

Madonna’s managers are saying that they never received a cease and desist letter, and that the name change had nothing to do with the conflict. Francis however, is not too convinced. Clearly her label was trying to avoid legal action surrounding the song, he says. But this is still infringement as far as the law is concerned and we have been in touch with Madonna’s representatives in an effort to resolve this issue.
