Don’t let the name fool you”Statue of Liberty isn’t an empire state-of-mind band. The folk rock duo, comprised of Bobby Bradford and Marywood Kate, hail from Boulder, CO by way of Dubuque, IA. Their music certainly doesn’t keep the Big Apple’s rat race pace. It’s vivid, wild-hearted folk for sure, but there’s also ghostly sort of romanticism that weaves through every song. Like, for example, on Time Carries On, where piano, bass and guitars move from frenzy to calm and back again. On Thick of It All the duo’s layered harmonies and delicate strumming give your heart a visceral tug. Shake off the nostalgia with the wiry pluck of Back to You, or the confident ˜60s strut of Only. Like an old Super 8 movie found in the attic, the music Statue of Liberty makes is warm, timeless and beautiful without any polish.
