You might be sick of “Call Me Maybe” this point, given the fact that the song has almost certainly invaded your airspace a couple dozen times since spring. Unless you live under a pile of rocks. In a deep, dark cave. In the Marianas Trench at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe you haven’t heard it that much if that’s your living situation.
But surface dwellers, you’re in luck! There’s a new Carly Rae Jepsen song ready to dig into your brain and settle into every wrinkle and crevasse of grey matter for the next few months. Prepare yourself for Jepsen’s next incessantly catchy single, “This Kiss,” which can be heard after the jump.
Fans more enamored with Jepsen’s acoustic turns like “Beautiful” might not find a lot to like here. ’80s nostalgists and sparkly electro enthuiasts, on the other hand, will find a lot to like here. Tonally, the track feels a lot like latter day Robyn and is sonically reminiscent of Kylie Minogue circa “Love At First Sight.” Jepsen and some unnamed object of desire can’t fight their feelings on the dance floor despite the minor inconvenience that they’re both in relationships with other people. Oops. Given the subject matter, it’s interesting to note that the track was co-written and co-produced by Jepsen’s current paramour Matthew Koma, alongside LMFAO’s Redfoo and Kelly Covell.
