Electro-deities Daft Punk have confirmed the rumors and beliefs of fans everywhere by making known their plans to release a new album later this year.
Scheduled for release worldwide in May, Random Access Memories has been eagerly anticipated since rumors of new material from the duo began popping up at the end of February. Folks believed the group would appear at SXSW, but instead the only sign of Daft Punk was a large billboard with the image that has now been confirmed as the official artwork for the new album. In addition to confirming the album and revealing the cover art, Daft Punk have also begun teasing new music by releasing multiple fifteen second ads (all of which have aired during Saturday Night Live. Click here to view the latest teaser.
Daft Punk’s last album was a relative disappointment, and that is putting it lightly. Unlike 1997’s Homework or 2001’s Discovery, Human After All didn’t produce a single top 10 hit (or even go Gold). That said, the duo remains the most recognizable act in all electronic music, and it’s clear from the outpouring of affection and excitement of social networks in recent weeks that fans are still hungry for more.
