Before You Exit Cover Katy Perry's "Roar"

We knew the day we heard Katy Perry‘s “Roar” that a flood of covers would soon follow. The song’s simple lyrics and even simpler instrumentation make it low-hanging fruit for anyone hoping to capitalize on a current Top 40 hit. The latest group to take a shot at the Teenage Dream starlet’s hit is none other than pop-rock outfit Before You Exit.

The band’s video performance cover, which strips the song’s synth-laden sound down to its bare bones, hit the net late yesterday afternoon. Before You Exit appears in a boxing ring with only an acoustic guitar and keyboard for accompaniment and lean heavily on their pitch-perfect harmony to deliver an original take on the song. The results are unquestionably different than the original, but the track itself is just as anthemic. You can view the performance below.
