Prepare To Fall In Love With The Music of Jon Bellion

There is an intangible ‘it’ factor to great music. It comes in many forms through the various genres, but it’s that inherent catchiness you don’t hear as much as feel. The song begins and suddenly you feel like it’s just you and the sound. That’s what we’re all looking for when hoping to discover new talent, and today I encourage you to look for it in the latest single from Jon Bellion.
If you were to stroll through the history of music you would come across literally thousands of songs about how chasing the dream of a career in music pulls artistic people away from their families. Jon Bellion is adding another entry to this collection with “New York Soul,” and it may be the most socially relevant to date. With a narrative peek into conversations between loved ones, Bellion depicts the growing distance between himself and his family. As the chorus kicks in, Skype and Instagram are used as examples of how Bellion now connects with his family, though he still cannot fight the sadness brought on by the miles between him and those he sees on the screen. The result of this pain is a hauntingly beautiful song you will want to share with your own distant loved ones. You can view the video for “New York Soul” below.
It’s hard to mention social media in a song without coming off corny, but somehow Bellion pulls it off on this single. If you like what you hear, there is a lot more on the way soon. “New York Soul” is actually the third single to be released off Bellion’s upcoming free album, which we’re told will be released before the end of the year.
