Cody Simpson Debuts "Pretty Brown Eyes" Video

Australian pop export Cody Simpson has been the great solo hope for male pop vocalists in recent years. While groups like One Direction were making a name with five babyface’d vocalist, Simpson has been packing large venues with his talents alone. Today he released a video for “Pretty Brown Eyes,” and once again it’s as good as his style of music can be.

Intended for Summer (and selling tickets to teen girls), the video for “Pretty Brown Eyes” finds a shirtless Simpson reciting lines in and around a pool party filled with his closest friends. It’s bright and covered with hand drawn after effects that add a creative flair to a tired concept. The real highlight however is still the song itself, which features a fantastically simplistic hook, as well as the now infamous slow-mo voice A$AP Rocky and Beyonce have used in recent efforts. It’s pure sugar in terms of how deep it is musically, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
