Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Go Platinum With "Can't Hold Us"

…So much for being one hit wonders…

The duo behind 2013’s first inescapable hit, “Thrift Shop,” have proven they have staying power by going platinum with their follow-up, “Can’t Hold Us.” The song is currently #2 on Billboard’s top singles, and the recently released video (seen below) has already surpassed six million plays on YouTube.

When 2012 came to a close, the majority of the country had never heard the names Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Now my mom knows who they are, and even worse, she loves them. Their tongue-in-cheek and fun approach to hip hop is everything marketing teams long to find, and their story of making it while remaining [mainly] independent is one artists on OurStage and beyond can learn a lesson from.

Can anyone stop Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at this point?
