Roy Harper Charged With Sexual Assault

Oof. Just as we started hearing the name Roy Harper again, this was not the headline we expected. The influential British singer, made most famous by an guest lead vocal on Pink Floyd‘s “Have A Cigar” and a musical tribute from Led Zeppelin (“Hats Off To (Roy) Harper” from Led Zeppelin III), is facing nine counts of sexual assault of a young girl, starting at age 12. The alleged crime is reported to have taken place between 1975 and 1977. Harper, who is 72, lives in County Cork, Ireland, and is due to appear in court today. [via DM]
