Katy Perry's Awkward Lip Sync Mistake

Katy_Perry_Prism-copyNot sure what to think of this one, but it seems like Katy Perry, appearing live at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, was the victim of some technical errors when her backing track started playing either from the wrong spot, or it was the wrong cue, or…I don’t know.

The host came out to stop the song and apologize, asking Perry if she would start again. Perry agrees, and then is clearly singing for real, at least on the verse. It’s unlikely that they would have had a vocal-less cue ready to go if her original intent was to lip-sync the whole thing…really hard to tell, though. Check it out:
