Skyler Stonestreet is a Southern Californian chanteuse, pianist and guitarist. If that makes her a triple threat, then she’s the most delicate one you’ve ever encountered. Her melodies are breezy little things, airbrushed by Stonestreet’s feathery coo. YOU unfolds gently, piano and jingle bells joined by maracas and minimalist guitar licks. In You’re the Only One I Want finger snaps and shuffling percussion keep things punchy, while Stonestreet’s voice lilts upward, like an escaped balloon drifting away. If you’ve got a strong aversion to twee, you may find this all to be a little too precious. But if you’re into simple indie pop that’s uplifting, sweet and pure, Stonestreet will probably give you nice a helium high.
