The House of the Rising Star

Tess Henley

Truth: Tess Henley is big in Japan. The Seattle artist has a top selling album at Tower Records and JetSet stores across the country, which proves, if nothing else, that the Japanese have excellent taste. We westerners are quickly catching up. Henley has already shared the stages with Jill Scott and Anthony Hamilton, building a stateside following fan by fan. Her neo-soul is powerful, sexy and charged with emotion. On What You Won’t Do For Love the chanteuse trades sultry vocal blows with singer Mycle Wastman. Henley can be torchy or bombastic, and on the come-hither Boy In The Window she opts for both. But it’s Fool With You that delivers the knock ˜em, sock ˜em punch. Sweeping, soulful and draped in glistening harmonies, the song is a total knock out. Domo arigato, Tess Henley.
