Dave Grohl Points Towards Foo Fighters Hiatus (Again)

If there were ever a time to announce your band’s hiatus, it would surely be in front of 60,000 screaming fans. And if you’re one of the biggest bands in the world, you might as well do it twice. For the second time in about a month, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl spoke out about the band’s impending break in activity. During the band’s set at the Reading Festiva in late August, he announced “It’s the last show for a long time,” only to backpedal soon after, claiming that he was only referring to a break from touring in England.

But this time, Grohl sounds sure of a Foo Fighters hiatus. Just as the band prepared to tear into a searing version of “Learn To Fly,” at The Global Citizen Festival in New York City, he announced, “Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this. This is it, man¦Honestly, I don’t know when we’re gonna do it again… and this is the perfect place to do it.” Still, Grohl left the show on a hopeful note, promising the audience, “I don’t know when, but we’ll see you again.” To cap off the night, Grohl and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys joined co“headliner Neil Young for an all“star shred fest on Young’s classic, “Rockin’ In The Free World.” Check out Grohl’s statement on the hiatus below.
