Superstars Winners Walk Away With Laptops And Cakewalk Software

posted in: OurStage Updates

The Intel Superstars Competition gave artists nationwide the opportunity to compete for prize packages that included laptops powered by Intel® Coreâ„¢ processor technology, music creation software and equipment from Cakewalk. The top finalists in each of the Superstars channels”which included rock, pop, singer-songwriter, urban, Latin and country”recently received their prize packages, and we caught up with them to hear about the experience. The competition clearly helped each artist in different ways. For some, the prize helped form a foundation for building a home studio or added on to an existing setup, and for others it offered the opportunity to get their music out to a broader audience. Winning artists Anthony Rankin, ARENBE and Nick Drum of Brave Chandeliers weigh in on their experiences below.

Anthony Rankin discovered OurStage and the Intel Superstars Competition via friend and fellow OurStage artist Brooke Annibale”who won an opening slot for HANSON in the Shout it Out with HANSON Competition on OurStage this past summer. He came in at the Number 4 spot in the Superstars Singer-Songwriter Competition with his song Quicksand.  Just the idea that fans and music listeners of all persuasions voted for this¦ It was humbling to think that people felt one of my songs was in the upper echelon of that many talented indie artists, recalls Rankin. I received the PC and software the day after Thanksgiving, and started using it within an hour to work on some new material. I’m writing all the time, and the new equipment seamlessly integrated into my home studio and mobile rig, giving me a more powerful machine to track demos and start work on a new album. Beyond the inspiring new laptop and software, OurStage has brought me mass exposure through their network of listeners; it’s hard to argue a farther reaching or more obvious positive result than that.

ARENBE, who placed third in the Superstars Urban Competition, found success in the form of more fans not to mention the ability to record their vocal tracks at home. We have never got around to purchasing equipment. We’ve been going to a couple studios in Houston locally working on various projects, but now we can record at home on our own time. We’ve been looking to build a home setup just for the convenience of recording vocals, and it feels great to have won the PC and software. Now we can work on mastering the engineering side of things. We really appreciate what OurStage is doing for artists looking to breakout in the industry. Just the opportunity to compete with other artists out there and come out in good standing lets us know we deserve to be here. It helps us continue to push in pursuing our dream.

Portland Alt-Pop Rockers Brave Chandeliers, who placed second in the Superstars Rock Channel, recalled the benefits of winning the prize”for their careers and themselves. “We have used the success in our promotional materials, demonstrating that we have commercial viability and it helped us get our music in front of new listeners by being rated that highly during the competition. It also gave us a big boost of self-esteem (added bonus for extra credit)!”

Brave Chandeliers: “We love OurStage! Thanks to the many many fans who took time out of there busy days to vote incessantly for us”.

ARENBE: “We would first like to thank OurStage and Intel for the opportunity. There are not many Web sites or companies offering cash and various other prizes just by entering your music; especially not nationally. We’d also like to thank all of the fans and other artists as well in their contribution in the judging process, and getting us in the position we were placed in. Thank you again!”

Anthony Rankin: “Thank you, thank you, thank you to my longtime supporters, but also to the people who found my music for the first time through this competition, as well as the staff at OurStage, not just for hosting the contest but for being kind and communicative throughout.  You seriously rock.”
