The Devil Wears Prada Release 'Martyrs' Video

posted in: Music NewsRock

We have a little less than a week to go before The Devil Wears Prada‘s fifth full length album, 8:18, hits stores. In the time since they announced their new album TDWP have revealed three singles, and now one of those tracks has an official music video.

“Martyrs” welcomes fans back to the world of The Devil Wears Prada with style to spare. The clip digs into the band’s love of horror-related imagery, using creepy archive footage cut together with lyrics super-imposed (and often scribbled) on top. It’s not a complete lyric video, but the themes of loneliness and sacrifice are heavily touched upon. You can view the video at the end of this post.

It’s a rare treat that we post a video that does not include any footage of the band, but that is exactly what The Devil Wears Prada have delivered with “Martyrs.” It’s encouraging for the future of music videos when a band still uses the medium to represent creative and thematic concepts, instead of as a throwaway promo tool. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the clip.
